Wood doors are either 1 3/8" or 1 3/4" thick and can be solid core or hollow core. When installing a door into a hollow metal frame, your door will normally be 1 3/4" thick. Most 1 3/8" thick doors come prehung which consist of the door already installed in the wood frame along with hinges. However, in commercial applications you will find prehung 1 3/4" thick doors.

Hollow core wood doors are never used in exterior openings and are usually found in interior residential although they are also sometimes used on commercial buildings due to their low cost. We primarly sell solid core wood doors because we sell mostly to the commerical side of business. When using a hollow metal frame, the door should be solid core. Particle core wood doors are the most common again due to pricing.

We stock a selection of hollow core, particle core, mineral core, structural composite lumber, plastic laminated, and speciaty doors. They are available in a number of different options like; Oak or birch and fire rated and non fire rated. We have many available along with the correct frame for your application.
